SCOPE OF MEDIATION PRACTICE

As a mediator and member of the Association of Missouri Mediators, certified in Basic Civil Mediation (Mo. Rule 17) and Family Law Mediation (Mo. Rule 88), my role is to serve as a neutral facilitator. I help participants communicate, clarify interests, explore options, and, when possible, reach mutually acceptable agreements. I do not act as a judge, arbitrator, or advocate for any one party.

Mediation is not legal advice. Each party is encouraged to consult with their own attorney, financial advisor, or other professionals as needed. Any agreements reached in mediation should be reviewed with appropriate professionals before being finalized or submitted to a court.

Mediation is also not psychotherapy or counseling. If emotional or mental-health concerns arise that require professional treatment, I may recommend working with a licensed provider alongside or instead of mediation.

Participation in mediation is voluntary. You retain the right to pause or end the process if it no longer feels appropriate or safe. If at any point mediation does not appear to be the right fit—for safety, legal, or ethical reasons—I will discuss alternative resources and, when appropriate, support a transition to other services.
